Education IS Prevention (EIP) was founded on the basic principle that proper
education and information sharing are critical components in preventing the
spread of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted infections
(STIs). While a variety of services are available for at-risk and infected
individuals throughout the Chicago region, there remained a lack of proactive
educational outreach efforts to combat these preventable epidemics. Because of
this, Robert Woodward and Lee Bohen, long-time HIV/AIDS activists, created a new
agency to fill this void. In September 2009, Education IS Prevention was
incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in the State of Illinois.
Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to
improve quality of life by promoting healthy choices for healthy living through
educational outreach programs and information dissemination.
